Bighorn Sheep, Revisited (14 images)

What majestic animals! Aptly named, bighorn sheep have horns that can weigh up to 30 pounds, as much as all of the bones in the male's body. A male's total weight can reach 500 pounds.

The herd that hangs out at Logan Pass is both a wonderful opportunity for visitors to view them and a real risk to those tourists. The bighorns are gentle grazers, but can turn aggressive in an instant. Habituation is a real challenge for the park's rangers to try to manage - the herd will stroll through the parking lot unless the rangers prevent that.
