Promontory - Locomotive Maintenance
My sister Carolyn and her husband, Dave, came through town last week from the east coast on their way to a southern Utah vacation. So we drove up to Promontory to introduce them to the site. The re-enactments only run May-October, so they didn't get to see that show.
During the off-season, the trains undergo a lot of maintenance to keep them looking good and running well. You can walk to the Engine House and see the work area. We got to talk with a volunteer and briefly with a couple of the maintenance workers. It was a blast to get the "behind-the-scenes" perspective. And hanging out with Carolyn and Dave is ALWAYS fun!
