Loop 2024, Day 7: Parade (BIG Gallery!)

Today, we wanted to attend the "Westward Ho" parade, so we got downtown early to secure a good parking spot. Our bonus for arriving early was that there was one round of the Native American Beauty Pageant going on. I'm not sure what the preceding rounds involved. But this round was mounted interviews. The contestants would wait on horseback for a judge to come around and ask them some questions. (Winners will be announced during tomorrow's festivities.)

I was able to chat with several people to learn more about the tribes represented, some history of their clothing, where they came in from, etc. As usual, everybody was friendly, accommodating, and informative. Great people! Great town!

Then, it was time for the "longest non-motorized parade in the world" to begin. I don't think I have ever seen a gathering of so many pretty rodeo queens, beautiful horses, and American flags! And no floats - GREAT parade!
