Cowboys, Cowgirls (23 images)

This morning I went with an old friend out to Antelope Island to watch some of the Annual Bison Roundup. But we couldn't get close to the bison, and I have shot a lot of images of them recently anyway. So I decided to get some shots of a few of the riders who donated their day to doing the rounding up.

These cowboys and cowgirls were part of the large group who, along with their horses, worked all day to steer the bison through the rough terrain and eventually into the holding pens. Once they finished their task, they rode by all of us spectators to chat and answer questions.

In the next few days, the bison will get vaccinated. Some will get sold to other herds, most released back to the island's free range. Thanks in great part to hundreds of volunteers.
