Osprey!

Had a terrific day today driving the Mirror Lake Highway with an old friend. The highlight had to be the time we spent (about an hour?) watching two osprey build up their nest with sticks. They would fly off, find sticks, and bring them back for the other to arrange. Sometimes both in the large nest, sometimes one, sometimes neither. It is at about 10,000 feet, so I'm not sure about the timing of their breeding. The adults watched us warily for a little while, then went about their nest building undisturbed. GORGEOUS birds!!!
