A Walk in the Park (16 images)
They say that the big crowd of visitors to Zion National Park finally drops off just after the Thanksgiving weekend. So, today, I tested that by touring the park.
It's TRUE! No line of cars at the entrance. Parking lots with empty spaces. Hiking trails with a reasonable number of other hikers. Yes, the morning started off in the 40's and was breezy. But the solitude was well worth it.
As always, the towering sandstone cliffs and beautiful desert terrain impressed. But I also ran across some wildlife: a flock of wild turkeys and three desert bighorn sheep. Oh, and breakfast at the lodge. A great day!
