Swan Song!

Winding down at Farmington Pond after a very busy work week.

It's called a basal knob, though its purpose is not really known. Birders would know it is not: wattles, nares, rictal bristles, or a snood, frontal shield, cere, nail or casque!

It's interesting that the orange in the swan's beak is the same as in the tulip in the previous post.
