Alaska 1 of 7: AK Native Heritage Ctr, Thunderbird Falls, Williams Reindeer Farm

My trip to Alaska with my sister and brother-in-law was almost six months in the planning. So, by the time I landed in Anchorage, I was "chompin' at the bit" for an adventure!

On our first day, I was having camera issues, so no pix. Thankfully, I got it fixed with the help of a terrific camera shop there. But day 2 was our drive from Anchorage to Denali. On the way, we visited the terrific Alaska Native Heritage Center, an indoor-outdoor museum honoring Alaska's indigenous people, cultures, and history.

Then a short, beautiful hike to Thunderbird Falls. The weather was perfect! In fact, over our 12-day vacation, we only had rainy weather two of the days!

Then we stopped at Williams Reindeer Farm in Palmer to check out the rescued animals there (some native to Alaska, some not). It was a nice break in our long drive. Nature fun fact: At the peak growing season, caribou antlers grow about an inch per day!
